Less than three months to go!
Highly regarded worldwide and one of Western Australia's iconic events, the Karma Resorts Rottnest Channel Swim is a 19.7km open water swim from Cottesloe Beach to Rottnest Island. Whether competing as a solo, duo or team, the Karma Resorts Rottnest Channel Swim is a 'team' event with all swimmers surrounded by a support network of paddlers, boat skippers and crew. The event, managed by the Rottnest Channel Swim Association, is held in February of each year and is Rottnest Island's biggest day.

Qualifying swims for solos

There is a prerequisite for those intending to undertake a solo crossing in the 2017 Karma Resorts Rottnest Channel Swim…

Under the Event Rules, an intending solo swimmer must have either completed a ratified solo crossing within the previous two years (2015 and 2016) or completed a 10km qualifying swim between 1 November 2016 and 1 February 2017.

If you haven't successfully completed a solo crossing in the past two years, local swimmers are encouraged to qualify by partaking in the official Rotto Rehearsal at Sorrento Beach (WA) on Sunday, 26 January 2017. Alternatively, if you are unable to take part in the Rotto Rehearsal, visit our website for other qualifying swim options.

*Please be aware, you must complete a qualifying swim in under 4 hours and 15 minutes to qualify.

REMINDER: Support Crew Info Night

Registrations are essential for our 2017 Support Crew Info Night so, if your skipper, paddler and support crew would like insight into what to expect on swim day, this is an opportunity for them to ask questions and hear tips and tricks from experienced Rotto Swim skippers and paddlers. If you've supported the Event before or you're a swimmer, you're of course welcome to attend this free session also!

Held from 6pm on Wednesday, 18 January 2017 at Fremantle Sailing Club, there will be representatives from Fremantle Volunteer Sea Rescue Group, Department of Transport (Marine Safety), Stem to Stern and Wilson Marine.

Additionally, support boats have the option to receive a boat inspection from Stem to Stern in the Fremantle Sailing Club carpark for free! Please email to register your interest so we can book your appointment.

Please register your place here for the Support Crew Info Night and for updates on the session, visit our Event Facebook page or our website.

REMINDER: We love our paddlers!

Did you know we also have a Rotto Swim Paddler Course available?

Thanks to our friends at CWA (that's Canoeing WA, not the other one), the course is specifically designed for new or inexperienced paddlers to help with your Rottnest Channel Swim crossing. The course runs from 8am – 12pm on Sunday, 5 February 2017 at the Ascot Kayak Club in Garvey Park and will go over the basics of paddler strokes, essential support crew tips, and what to expect on Event day. The course is $50 and bookings are essential so please email your full name and mobile number to to reserve your place.

Please note that participants in the course are required to bring their own equipment.

REMINDER: We are looking for volunteers!

With the 2017 Karma Resorts Rottnest Channel Swim around the corner, we've begun our search for volunteers! Volunteers are a vital part of the Rotto Swim culture and without their amazing dedication we would not be able to deliver the Event.

As a volunteer you'll receive a 2017 t-shirt and hat, a front row seat to all the action and you get to help swimmers cross the finish line!

We require volunteers for a variety of roles, both at the Event Briefing on Saturday, 4 February 2017 and on Event Day - Saturday, 25 February 2017 at both the start and finish line.

If you want to join our amazing volunteer crew, register your interest here.

Please note, volunteers must attend the compulsory Volunteer Briefing at 10am on Saturday, 14 January 2017 at HBF Stadium.

The official 2017 Karma Resorts Rottnest Channel Swim t-shirts are still available to purchase through the online registration system. The t-shirts are not only a great way to thank your support crew and cheer squad but are a fantastic souvenir of your favourite day!
