We are currently enjoying picture perfect autumn days and balmy night as we prepare for the Easter influx of visitors. With innovative new reef experiences being rolled out in the coming months it is an exciting time for tourism operators in the Port Douglas and Daintree region.

The Port Douglas Daintree region remains unaffected by Cyclone Debbie which crossed the Queensland coast yesterday (March 28) about 600km south of Port Douglas.

Our region has enjoyed clear sunny days since the low pressure system began tracking south of Cairns over the weekend.

We wish our southern tourism colleagues the very best as they clean up after Cyclone Debbie and prepare for the Easter break.

Sailaway Launches Eco-Sailing Adventure

Sailaway is offering one of the highest levels of nature experiences on the Great Barrier Reef with a new eco-sailing adventure from Cape Tribulation. Sailing daily to Mackay and Undine Cays from the 1st May 2017, Sailaway offers snorkelling, sailing and relaxing with first class service. Eco-tourism is an opportunity to increase awareness and appreciation of our natural environment. Come onboard with the team from Sailaway and enjoy the eco experience of a lifetime.

Quicksilver Learn to Dive Centre

Dive into Quicksilver Dive Centre

The Quicksilver Group is diving into the new development of a Learn to Dive Centre, the first of its kind in Port Douglas. The two-story building will include a purpose-built 13metre x 7metre dive pool along with a state-of-the-art retractable room to allow for all-weather operations.

With construction expected to start in May 2017 the Centre will feature classrooms, retail outlets and offices, and accompanying infrastructure including additional car parking, road upgrades and pedestrian walkways.

Hartley's Crocodile Adventures

New Reptile Adventure at Hartley's

Construction is underway on Hartley's Crocodile Adventures exciting new Reptile Exhibit. The new attraction will feature more than 20 separate displays showcasing some amazing, colourful and fascinating frogs, lizards, snakes and tortoises from Australia and beyond.

See the world's smallest and largest python species, spot some of the deadliest snakes on earth and marvel at the amazingly colourful patterns worn by the superstars of the reptile world. 

AquaQuest

Get onboard with AquaQuest in Port Douglas

Deep Sea Divers Den is thrilled to announce the addition of AquaQuest, set to commence operations out of Port Douglas from June 2017. The purpose-built vessel will accommodate up to 80 passengers looking to experience the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef, offering snorkel and scuba dive tours at two separate locations.

AquaQuest is a welcome addition to the existing fleet which consists of three vessels and a 5-star PADI Career Development Centre based in Cairns.
