29 days to go!
Highly regarded worldwide and one of Western Australia's iconic events, the Karma Resorts Rottnest Channel Swim is a 19.7km open water swim from Cottesloe Beach to Rottnest Island. Whether competing as a solo, duo or team, the Karma Resorts Rottnest Channel Swim is a 'team' event with all swimmers surrounded by a support network of paddlers, boat skippers and crew. The event, managed by the Rottnest Channel Swim Association, is held in February of each year and is Rottnest Island's biggest day.
2016 Event Briefing

The Main Event Breifing for the 2016 Karma Resorts Rottnest Channel Swim will be held on Tuesday, 2 February 2016 in the Main Arena at HBF Stadium, (Stephenson Avenue, Mount Claremont) commencing at 6.30pm.

Some important need-to-knows:

  • Start time: The briefing will commence at 6.30pm sharp. Late-comers will be allowed into the venue at non-disruptive intervals via the upper doors.
  • Skipper attendance: We strongly recommend that your skipper attends the briefing as they are ultimately responsible for your wellbeing during your crossing. Even if they have skippered in the event before, there is always new information and, this year in particular, there are some new rules.
  • Race pack collection: Race packs contain your race caps, stickers, protocols and t-shirts. These are available for collection after the Briefing.
  • T-shirts: If you missed out on ordering additional t-shirts this year or would like more (great thank you gifts for your support crew!), these will also be available for purchase on the night.
  • Parking and Transportation: Parking is limited at HBF Stadium and can become congested. It is important to allow extra time to find a parking spot and for traffic delays (which are inevitable on the night of the Event Briefing). It is recommended that you carpool with fellow swimmers or with your team/support crew. If you need to drive, please consider using the alternative entrance into the stadium, via McGillivray Road.

We look forward to seeing (most of) you next week!

Just a reminder to regional, interstate and international swimmers that we have a separate briefing for you on Friday, 26 February 2016. The briefing specifics will be sent directly to you shortly.

Swimmer Declaration Forms (Waivers)

This year we introduced the signing of the declaration forms as part of the registration for the 2016 Karma Resorts Rottnest Channel Swim. This has been a far more efficient process than handling paperwork at the briefing, but there are still some unsigned swimmer declaration forms. If you are receiving a 'Waiver Reminder' email from the Active Network, this means you still need to sign your form.

If you are having difficulty signing your waiver, please visit our My Waiver page for the link as well as some some handy tips and contact details so that we can help you.

All swimmers must have signed their waiver by 5.30pm on Wednesday, 24 February 2016 in order to participate in the 2016 Karma Resorts Rottnest Channel Swim.

Support boat, skipper or swimmer changes

We understand that circumstances change and you may need to replace a swimmer or update your skipper or support boat details.

Changes to your entry can be made online until 5.30pm on Wednesday, 24 February 2016. After this time, we will accept changes but there is a $100 administration fee associated with the change. Visit the Updating my Registration page for more information about how to make a support boat, skipper or swimmer change.

Skipper's Questionnaire

All skippers for the 2016 Karma Resorts Rottnest Channel Swim must complete an online questionnaire to be able to participate in the event.

This year, skippers have from Wednesday, 3 February 2016 (after the Event Briefing) until 5.30pm on Wednesday, 20 February 2016 to complete the questionnaire. The questionnaire will feature a series of safety based questions that are designed to ensure the rules and regulations of the event are understood.

While we will be sending your skipper this information as well, please give your skipper a gentle reminder to complete this questionnaire.

Additionally, the data we collect as part of your registration includes contact numbers that will be used on the day (in case of emergencies and GO/NO GO text messages), as well as the Recreational Skipper's Ticket number. It is important  to make sure all your details are entered correctly. If you want to check this, please refer to your registration confirmation email.
