Calling All Creatives!
Highly regarded worldwide and one of Western Australia's iconic events, the Karma Resorts Rottnest Channel Swim is a 19.7km open water swim from Cottesloe Beach to Rottnest Island. Whether competing as a solo, duo or team, the Karma Resorts Rottnest Channel Swim is a 'team' event with all swimmers surrounded by a support network of paddlers, boat skippers and crew. The event, managed by the Rottnest Channel Swim Association, is held in February of each year and is Rottnest Island's biggest day.
Have you heard the news?!

The 2017 Karma Resorts Rottnest Channel Swim will operate with a 'first-in first-served' registration system, which means goodbye to the ballot! If you are interested in participating in this year's event these are the dates you need to know:

  • Registration for solos will be open for one week only from 8.00am (AWST) Monday, 24 October to 5.30pm (AWST) Sunday, 30 October 2016.
  • Duos and teams will follow from 8.00am (AWST) Wednesday, 2 November to 5.30pm (AWST) Sunday, 6 November 2016 or until sold out.

This means that once your team captain has a successful registration you will be set to race and ready to start the serious training!

Stay tuned for more information on how the registration approach will change for 2017 and what info you will need to make the process faster and easier. We have some Frequently Asked Questions aimed to guide you through the first-in first-served system on our website which can be found here.

T-shirt Design Competition Closing Soon!

Do you have a flair for design? Are you creative? Or just love a challenge? Then we want you! The 2017 Karma Resorts Rottnest Channel Swim T-shirt design competition is open for one more week! This year we have included the challenge of incorporating the RCSA's swimmer in any way you like, as long as it retains 50% of the essential design – not exactly, but just enough for the swimmer to be recognisable. Don't feel like you have to stay inside the lines or stick with our colours as creativity is key!

The winner of the competition will receive either a complimentary duo or team entry into the 2017 Karma Resorts Rottnest Channel Swim or a cash prize of $500!

The competition closes 5.30pm Sunday, 31 July 2016 so please contact us on if you have any questions. For the full details, T & Cs and a copy of our logo click here.

Swimmers' Seminar

Are you a first time soloist or undecided if you are ready to take the plunge? The RCSA will be holding a Swimmers' Seminar on Tuesday, 6 September 2016 from 7.00pm to 8.30pm at the Lecture Theatre at HBF Stadium.

The session is free and is designed to guide first time soloists to a successful Channel crossing. Experienced swimmers and industry professionals will discuss training, swimmer tricks, nutrition, preparation, the signs of hypothermia, injury prevention as well as common mistakes.

While it is designed for solos, anyone who is interested in swimming in the 2017 Karma Resorts Rottnest Channel Swim will find it useful. Registrations are essential, so please secure your place by contacting the RCSA office on 9389 4080 or emailing

For more information, please visit the Rottnest Channel Swim website.
